Sand City Museum

  • Sand City Museum considered to be one of the most important, and famous tourist attractions in Hurghada, it's the first and only Museum in the middle East, and Africa created from sand,  in addition to that it’s the first of it’s kind to use two types of sand in the manufacture of statues, it was established in December 2012.
  • The climate, and weather factors are very suitable for its establishment in Egypt, and especially in Hurghada, as it was built using more than 12 thousand tons of golden sand mixed with white sand, which is widely available in that region, and it is characterize by the low salinity.

How was this global statues were made?

  • The construction process takes place through filling the wooden boxes with the unique Egyptian desert sand, then they were mixed with water to remove the salinity from it, After that, it were pressed with certain machines, to let the air get out from it, this boxes were loosened after 25 day, then the statues were sculpted, and adhesive material where placed, to fix these statues.
  • It took about 7 months to carve these statues by 42 sculptors from different countries, including (Russia, America, Turkey, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain ... etc.), these art pieces are characterized by a lot of meticulous accuracy, as it highlight the smallest details, the sculptures embody most of the world's civilizations, like mythical personalities, famous leaders, and ancient gods, and the state is keen to restoring it by a group of sculptors periodically to preserve it

  • King Muhammad the conqueror ruled for 30 years, during which he made great conquests, this artefact  embodied the wars he fought to eliminate the Byzantine state, and unify the Anatolian Kingdom.

  • Yin and yang are a Chinese mythical being, depicted in the form of a dragon, its statue represents the eternal struggle between good, and evil according to Chinese mythology.
  • Disneyland characters were represented in sand city Museum, including  SpongeBob, Spider-Man, Batman, Tom and Jerry and the Smurfs, and other animations, to attract children to the museum, in addition to that there are workshops, to teach painting, and carving on sand, to children, the most important thing that the distinctive feature of the museum, that it is fully of equipped, to receive visitors with special needs.

Entrance fee 

  • The ticket prices for foreigners $20 for those over 12 years old, while it is $10 for children under 12 years old, and entrance is free for children under three years old, while ticket prices for Egyptian is 80 Egyptian  pounds, children from 5 to 12 years old 40 Egyptian pounds, children under 5 years are free.
